We are often confused about what to believe and what not when it comes to maintaining your hair health? Do you also get trapped in a dilemma when you hear that you must brush your hair at least 100 times a day to keep them healthy or you must wash your hair in order to get rid of dandruff? Have you also heard that you need to keep changing your hair care products every month so that your hair does not get used to the product? Do you face doubt in your everyday habits just because statements like these confuse you to believe the right hair facts? Struggling to know what is right and what is wrong

1) MYTH- It is safe to comb wet hair.

FACT- Unfortunately, our hair swells up when it gets wet due to which it becomes weak from the roots. Therefore, when we brush wet hair, more strands come off in the comb than usual. It is best to leave hair as it is while it is wet or use a wide-toothed comb with very light hands if required. The best is to detangle your hair when it is completely dry.

2) MYTH- Need to change your hair care product regularly

FACT- Most of us believe that it is important to change the hair care products before our hair gets used to them. But one must not forget that hair is not a living thing. The only thing that can stop your hair care products from affecting the hair is the thick build-up of chemicals like silicones. For clearing this, it is suggested to use a non-comedogenic shampoo and conditioner which is free from all kinds of harsh chemicals. Therefore, you shall continue to use your hair care products and detoxify them regularly but you need not worry about changing them very frequently

3) MYTH- Do not condition if you have oily or thin hair

FACT- And thats completely false . Oily hair is caused by an excess of sebum in the scalp and thin hair can be attributed to genes or sometimes,. Not conditioning your hair whether it’s greasy or thinner than average is only doing your natural crown a disservice, and you should truly be treating your hair royally. First, it’s best to find and use and conditioner that treats the scalp and your hair also look for a clarifying conditioner and focus application on the mid-shaft to the ends. For thinning hair, look for voluminising conditioners, but especially one that will hydrate and nourish the scalp to help with growth and a more fuller look.

4) MYTH- Split ends can be repaired

FACT- Despite what some products advertise, split ends cannot be repaired. A split or damaged end occurs when the protective outer layer of the hair is damaged, so there really is no way to reseal or close it. While many people would love to believe a conditioner or serum is the answer in order to preserve length, the only way to get rid of split ends is to split with them – they need the chop. trimming split ends will give the hair a healthier fuller look, which will make up for any length lost.

5) MYTH-Cold water will make your hair shinier.

FACT- “Cold water isn't going to make your hair shinier. It does close the cuticle a bit, and it'll make hair look shiny if it’s already shiny. But if your hair’s not shiny, it’s not going to make it shiny, So what kind of hair is shiny, then? "Undamaged hair is shiner than damaged hair," and "cleaner hair is shinier.

6) MYTH- A dry scalp is the main cause of dandruff.

FACT- Everything here is exactly the opposite. Dandruff occurs in people with an oily scalp. So when this problem appears, stop using hair oil, which, contrary to your expectations, only worsens the situation.

7) MYTH- If you pluck out a grey hair, you’ll get more in it’s place.

FACT- there is no harm in plucking a grey hair. Plucking the hair will indeed remove the grey, however, it is the follicle beneath the skin that produce the hair has made the hair grey. Pulling out one grey hair will not cause more grey hairs to grow as one follicle will not affect others around it.

8) MYTH- The more you brush your hair, the healthier it will be

FACT- Excessive brushing can do more harm than good, and can damage your hair’s outer protective layer by causing friction and breakage over time. Using a wooden brush, start at the bottom of your hair and work your way up. This brush is also great for stimulating your scalp to promote hair growth.

9) MYTH- Let it dry naturally.

FACT- Well, if you have short or mid-length hair, your hair would dry on their own. But if you have beautiful long hair, then you shouldn’t wait for evaporation. The longer the water stays in your hair, it will swell the pores and washes out the keratin making your hair strand prone to breakage. It is prudent to use blow dryers with controlled heat and safe distance.

10) MYTH-Men go bald only after 50

FACT- Hormonal surge and male pattern baldness can occur at any age. Alopecia can be an indicator of an underlying disease or may be an outcome of your unhealthy lifestyle and stress levels. One really need to keep a check on it.

If any or all of these myths sounded too familiar, it’s high time to put the old wives’ tales to rest and move forward with better hair care tips that actually work. Every type of hair texture will require certain tweaks to hair care regimens, but the foundations of hair care are true for everyone it’s not just about hair. The scalp is such a vital part of strong, shiny, healthy and fuller hair.
